Azusa is becoming a popular place for
gay families to move to due to the support and encouragement
from residents.
The city of
Azusa
has quietly had many gay residents for decades. In
the past, most of these people lived in the closet.
Today, the gay population of the city is
increasingly growing and many residents are
encouraging it to happen. There are even
heterosexual families who show their support and
acceptance of gay residents by proudly flying
rainbow flags on their properties. They do this so
that when people look for homes in the area, buyers
will know that it is a gay friendly area. Residents
have stated that the gay residents tend to take
better care of their homes and spend more on home
improvements, resulting in increasing property
values. They also recognize that as the gay
population of the city increases, more creative and
unique stores and restaurants are sure to follow.
This is something that many residents of Azusa have been demanding to happen.
The city of Azusa is currently going through
gentrification. Encouraging gay families is part of
this process. The gay community has transformed
cities around this nation into successful,
beautiful, and safer cities to live in. That fits in
with the goals for the city of
Azusa.
Gay families are choosing to live in Azusa for
several reasons, including being able to purchase a
much larger home for less money than it would cost
to live on the West side of Los Angeles, less
traffic on the East side, they are encouraged by the
progress that the city and school district have
recently made, they enjoy living close to nature yet
are still relatively close to Pasadena, and they
have friends that have already successfully moved
into the city.
The city has some beautiful newer areas, such as
Mountain Cove, as well as historic older areas to
live in. New projects that are currently being built
include: Rosedale (

several small townhouse and condominium projects.
